Santa Saves Christmas
An Interview of the author of this play ,Oinkers, By Edgar

Hello theatre goers. I, Edgar the penguine, have been given the honor of interviewing Oinkers on his newest acomplishment and making a page that he could post on the internet all about it. I'm so very excited!

My interview with Oinkers started out quite well in the frontroom of the house in which he has created his masterpiece. Oinkers sits on the couch, hot cocoa in hand waiting for my questions to begin. Gripping my pencil in anticipation I read off the questions from my little pad, furiously scribbling the answers he dicataes.

Edgar:Oinkers, is it true that you wrote this play all by yourself?

Oinkers:Of course I wrote it by myself!

E:We've seen the play, but maybe someone reading this hasn't yet, can you tell me what it's about essentially?

O:A plot summery? Well basically the head elf is taken terribly ill and it looks like there will be no christmas because without him they can't finish the toys. But then Santa steps in and saves the day.

E:What is the central theme to this story?

O:The main theme is that quick thinking and cleverness can save the day. It also shows that the smart ones should be in charge because what would have happened if one of the elves was the boss instaed? Huey [the head elf] would not have gotten well.

E:Not only did you write and direct this play but you also produced it and stared in it, wasn't that hard?

O:Not really. The hardest part was getting the cast to co-operate. They all complained a lot after I was nice enough to let them have roles in my first play!

E:So the cast wasn't happy with the way the play went?

O:Oh, of course they were! They were just fighting about who got to be elf #1, so in my cleverness there is no elf #1! I solved the problem.

E:was that the only problem you had with the cast?

O:Of course! What else could they have to complain about? They fought amongst themselves a lot, but I don't think we should get into that!

E:Well Mr. Oinkers, thank you for this interview, I wish you luck in future productions.

O:Thank you edgar, maybe you can be in my next one!

Here are some comments from the cast members!

Booy T. Bear:I was very unhappy with having to drink that whole bottle of medicine, it was really grape Kool-aid and I hate grape kool-aid. The play went pretty good, but Oinkers isn't very open to suggestions as far as his writing is concerned. Next time I think I'll write the play.

Annie:I should have been elf #1, but I guess it worked out all right because he gave me a lot more lines anyway. I better get a really good part next time!

Doggie:I thought it was a good play, but Oinkers made us practice too hard, and I'm way behind on my Christmas cooking! Though he did give me time to make the cookies that everyone got after the play. Booy and I are thinking of writing a play about Captain Teddy and making oinkers be the evil villian, I think he would like that.

Clownie:I had a lot of fun working on the play! Oinkers sets were very good, he used a lot of construction paper and scotch tape! We helped him put the stuff together and poor Booy got covered in tape! But we got it off without too much trouble.

Henry Harry:I was glad not to have too many speaking parts, and I got tired of Oinkers and everyone argueing, but it was a lot of fun when we finally did it.

Spotty:It was a lot of hard work.

Easter T. Pig:I was really happy to be the reindeer except that they taped these sticks on my head and when the tape came off it pulled my fuzz off as well! My head may never be the same!
