Volume XLII By Edgar T. Penguin January 2004
"I'll be home for Christmas.."
This year Santa brought us more than presents, he brought our friends Slimey and Slimella home!
As everyone knows they have been in Iowa for several months so that Slimey could undergo surgery. As the days, then weeks and then months began to pass we began to be concerned.
But our worry was needless. Slimey and Slimella returned late last month when Bubbles came for a late Christmas, and they are both in tip-top shape!
As such a "Welcome Home" party is being planned by Clownie for the second weekend of the month. If you would like to help let him know! Welcome home guys!

The Best Presents
Santa brought everyone a lot of good gifts this year, so we at the Penguin Post decided to see what the average bear's favorite gift was this year.
Booy: "The Captain Teddy Special Series Collection!"
Pigelty-Wigelty: "My new phone that has an auto hang-up feature, very time saving."
Spotty: "My new detective kit, and the fuzzy house shoes from Batty"
Oinkers: "My best friend coming! Oh, and "Piglet's Big Movie", and my new paint set and..."
Cherry Pink: "The pretty Christmas tea set Santa left"
Doggie: "My new chef's hat and the "Captain Teddy Encyclopedia"
    Pongo: "Bananas"
Annie: "My new roller skates and the big puzzle from Betsy"
Candie: "The 45 piece hair accessories set"
    Slimey: "Coming home at last!"

Happy Holidays!

Contest Winners
The first annual Christmas Carol contest went wonderfully! There were many great entries.
First place went to a group of bears from Iowa! Bubbles and his friends got the top prize with their new rendition of "Christmas is a comin'". "Christmas is a comin' and the bears are gettin' fat, Eating lots of candy and cookies by the stack. Lots of creamy fudges, candy canes galore. And sticky little bears are crying "more, more, more."
Second place went to Oinkers with his "O' Christmas Tree". "Oh, Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, very sparse are your branches. Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, Very sparse are your branches. You were bought at Fred's you see, Because you were so very cheap! Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree Very sparse are your branches. In three pieces you come, you do, It sounds strange, but it is true, Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree Very sparse are your branches. But I can see how hard you try, Brings a tear to my little eye. oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, Very sparse are your branches"
Finally, third place went to Annie and Candy for "Shining Light" "shining light, twinkling light. Red and green, my how bright. Shining from our Christmas tree, for the whole world to see. Twinkle lights galore, twinkle lights galore"
The Penguin Post would like to thank all the participants for a fun filled musical night!

Two Christmases
If you thought last year's Christmas at night was odd, then this year topped the charts! We had two Christmases!
The first Christmas was held on December 25th, and included the usual round of present opening accompanied by Doggie's special donut breakfast. Afterwards new movies were watched including "Piglet's Big Movie", and "Captain Teddy saves Christmas". This was followed by a scrumptious Christmas dinner provided by Doggie and his assistants.
The second Christmas was held the 29th of December and included some special guests in the form of Bubbles, his new friend Barbie and my twin brother Edgar II! This Christmas involved present exchanges from Iowa and a lot of eggnog and cocoa drinking!
The holiday season may be gone, but we should all remember that we got twice as much of it as everyone else!

A New Year!
Once again a New Year has dawned ushered in by a very small party.
Since New Years eve morning was when Bubbles and co. left, it was decided that a small party was all that was needed.
Doggie and his assistants whipped up a few party snacks in the form of cucumber sandwiches, crackers, cheese and a fruit and veggie platter along with a lot of sparkling grape juice.
At midnight everyone cheered the new year in, and then went to bed. A few hearty souls stayed up for the "Captain Teddy Marathon", and I am told it was a great way to start the New Year.
