Volume XLI By Edgar T. Penguin December 2003
Editorial: Bear Deserves Worse
By Annie
There is a certain bear in this house who FINALLY got part of the punishment he deserves.
This bear is continually bad, yet always gets off light. He put firecrackers in the teachers desk, he stuck bubblegum to her chair, he got into a fight, he skips school, he sleeps during class, not to mention his behavior at home!
I think that this bear, who finally got punished, deserves a much harder punishment. Being banned from TV and the movies for a week or two will not teach this bear a lesson. Especially when Joey turns around and takes him on a trip to Iowa for a week so that he again misses school.
How will this bear ever learn? I say get tough on him and then maybe we'll see some improvements (I'm talking to you, Booy)!

Christmas Cards
Once again it is the time of year to get Christmas cards made.
As usual, Oinkers would like to make everyone aware that he is available to either help or make your Christmas cards.
If you would like his assistance please let him know.

Song Contest
The Penguin post is hosting a song writing contest this year.
We are looking for new Christmas carols, they can either have a new tune or go to the tune of an existing song.
There will be a concert on the night of December 24th, to give everyone a chance to sing their new creations. The winning song will be published in next months paper; you DO NOT have to sing your song at the concert in order to enter the contest!
    Hope to see everyone there!

"Christmas is a coming and the geese are getting fat. Time to put a penny in the old man's hat. If you haven't got a penny, a haypenny will do. if you haven't got a haypenny then God bless you."

Contest Winners
This year I judged the pictures on creativity. Booy won the picture contest this year with his entry "Captain Teddy Saves Christmas".
Seymore wins second place with his ink blot picture titled "What do you see?". Unique.
Third place belongs to Pongo for his "Perfect Present" picture - very unusual.
Crabby received an honorable mention for his "Island Christmas".
I had a lot of entries this year in the annual Christmas Picture contest despite the fact that I forgot to mention it in last months edition. I want to apologize to anyone who missed their chance to enter.

Thanksgiving Enjoyed By All
Once again Thanksgiving has come and gone. This year's dinner was an especially nice one.
The-Short-one and Charlie were gone for most of the day at their "friends'" house, so we had the run of the place.
As always Doggie and his volunteer assistants cooked up a delicious meal, complete with all the trimmings. His experimental pumpkin custard pie even turned out to be tasty!
After dinner everyone, led by Henry, had a discussion on what they were thankful for this year vs. last year. It was a very interesting conversation, the perfect end to a great holiday.

Christmas Activities Planned
Christmas is coming and once again the schedule is full.
Oinkers is having a card making workshop the first weekend of this month to make Christmas cards. Bring your scissors, your glue and your creativity.
Cherry Pink and Apple Blosom White would like to invite everyone to a Christmas tea the second Saturday of the month, though they are explicit in their no horseplay rules.
Charles the Frog is also hosting "A Sci-Fi Christmas" on the second Sunday, it will be an all day marathon of Sci-Fi movies, so bring your favorite snack food!
Annie and candy would also like to remind everyone to come to their present wrapping, carol singing, cocoa party the Sunday before Christmas, it promises to be a lot of fun!
With so much to do don't forget to also do your homework! Hope to see you at these great activities!

Wanted:
A list of what you want for Christmas. Please complete and give to Bully and Perry by the 12th.
