Greetings, friends! Once again the Holidays are upon us! Time to think about Christmas shopping - which as a punctual piggy I have already begun!
Well, the Halloween party went well, I suppose. Those strange Iowa bears were in charge of the prizes for best costume and guess what they did? They gave everyone a prize for something!!! That's right, everyone got a prize - even Bob who went as a pile of leaves! Bubbles and I got prizes for "Best Matching Costumes", but frankly I think they were pity prizes and am quite upset about the whole thing. What is the point of a costume contest if no one wins? I wrote an editorial on this, but Edgar said he did not have time to fit it in as the paper was already running late!! The paper is mostly full of the Song Contest! I won second place - Bubbles won first so it is okay that I didn't, but if anyone else had won I think I would be upset about it...
We didn't bother going trick or treating this year because it poured rain all night long. Gallons and gallons of rain. I thought that we were all going to float away, but we didn't. They had a couple of tornadoes south east of us, but they didn't mess up anything too interesting.
As you may have noticed I have gotten the website updated. The problem was that I can only upload files that are 256k, and when a file is too big it confuses the server (on this computer anyway) and freezes up. The-Short-One assures me that at the library with a DSL connection it does not freeze up the computer, that it just says it's too big. So, I have fixed The Troccas Download by making it four zip files! But that is still better then having to download each page separately, right?
By the way, it appears that Baby Bear is mad at me. You see, I have been singing a very cute song at Booy about how he poisoned Toady (revenge for the artificially pink piggy song) so he went running to The-Short-One and I got in trouble, so, I set a trap for him. I climbed on top of the kitchen cupboards (no small feat) and waited with a bucket of chocolate syrup, well, when he walked through the bedroom doorway I let him have it. Well, turns out it was Baby Bear - he and Booy look very much alike! So now he is mad at me. I told him that I didn't mean to get him, but he is still upset anyway. >(sigh)<.
Speaking of Booy poisoning Toady, he did not get into trouble over it, after all. Mrs. Friendly has made a new rule that the show and tell bags and lunch bags now go in separate places, though, in hopes an incident like that will never happen again. As for Mrs. Friendly I normally agree with her, but I think she has gone too far where Bubbles is concerned. Bubbles has been asking questions about the Teddy Government and wanting to know who the President is and the Mayor of Teddy Town and things and wanting to know who elects them and when and all Mrs. Friendly will do is tell him to sit down and work on his lesson. Well, this last week he started his questions again, demanding to know who elects the Teddy officials and why he doesn't get to vote and she told him to sit down. Then he said that school was supposed to teach us things and that it was failing, so she told him to go ask the Principal about it. Of course, the Principal was not very helpful and told Bubbles he was a troublemaker. So Bubbles
went back to the classroom and told Mrs. Friendly that he refused to "fit into the little box they wanted to keep him in" so she gave him lines to write -"I will not be a troublemaker". Bubbles says he does not believe that there is any Teddy Government at all and that it is really chaos. I told him he needs to behave, but I think Mrs. Friendly is being very hard on his inquisitive mind.
I am drawing pictures of everyone in their costumes but it has proven to be a massive undertaking. I though "ah, a day maybe" but it has already taken two. It would help if I had more computer time and The-Short-One was not always online talking to her friends!
Speaking of friends, the ones with the sticky child have not been over lately. And I don't think that Charlie or The-Short-One have been to their house lately, either. I wonder why....
Not much else is going on around here. Ruby's rodeo is coming up and she is busy making preparations. That is one event I will not be involved with. I am planning on watching - from a safe distance of course, but I am not participating in any way. That way when it all goes horribly awry I can sit back and say "I told you so". Maybe they will listen to me more often after this....
Well, I shall go for now and get to work on my pictures!
