The Good Guys
Of course, Captain teddy is the hero, but there are several reoccurring "good guys" which Captain teddy gets to spend time saving.

The images are from the Collector Cards
Benjamin Bear is Captain Teddy's alter ego who works at Mr. Splokker's deli behind the counter making sandwiches all day. Benjamin is a well behaved, honest, upright citizen of teddy town who just happens to be a super hero in disguise.

When he's not saving the city or the planet and not at work he enjoys hanging around his apartment and watching TV while eating ham and cheese sandwiches with pimento and tomatoes and drinking orange slurpees. He has a VIP Renters' club card for the local video store where he goes on Friday nights to rent movies and talk to Emerill Elephant the local movie authority - though he very rarely gets to watch the movies he rents thanks to all the bad guys. He is also a champion Rummy player. As for physical sports, but when he does not have on his captain teddy costume with the crystals sewn inside he is an average bear who's only athletics are baseball.

Prunehilda used to work with her scientist friend Dr. freeze until they discovered a mysterious crystal that he named Piryl. When he started to use its powers for evil Prunehilda stole the crystals and disappeared, only to turn up in teddy town where Benjamin bear saved her from a mugger. After that she gave him the Piryl crystal to use and as a thank you for his getting her an apartment across the hallway from him she made him his captain teddy uniform.

Prunehilda is the only other teddy in teddy town who knows the truth to his secret identity. She drops in on Benjamin Bear quite often and brings him cookies and cakes, she also drops into the deli and still finds time to get kidnapped. Despite her movie appearances sometimes, she is a polar bear which has sparked theories that she is truly Dr. Freeze's sister as opposed to just his friend. The girls of the world seem to be hoping for a romance with Prunehilda and Captain Teddy but I think he's too smart for that!

Treta Turtle lives upstairs from Benjamin Bear. Supposedly a kind heart she chooses to act gruff and crabby and is known to bang her cane on the above when Benjamin watches TV too loudly. If he doesn’t quiet down she'll come stomping downstairs and crab at him in person.

Despite her crabbyness she has been kidnapped, held hostage and even once shrunk. Every time Captain teddy saves her without fail, though I think I'd have left her shrunk (she fit in his pocket! Let her bang her cane then!) She doesn't know why criminals have frequented her building and suspects Benjamin is somehow a part of a secret crime ring, which helps color her attitude towards him and Prunehilda.

Mr. Splokker owns the deli that Benjamin Bear works at. He is a round mouse who is essentially good at heart but he tends to take advantage of Benjamin Bear's good nature to dupe him into doing things - such as the promotional disaster that landed them all in the dungeon of the Mutant Fly. Of course, he still thinks it was Captain Teddy who saved them and often kids Benjamin Bear about not being around when he is needed.

Despite this, he is fond of Benjamin and gives him lots of free sandwiches. It is also revealed in a side story that Mr. Splokker enjoys playing poker and that he initially won the deli in a poker match, but swore off gambling after that to concentrate on running the deli - which had been his life long dream. He has a sister who lives far away and has come to visit twice so far in the series. She is a lot like him except her passion is pie instead of sandwiches - she even owns a pie shop.

Billy Bear is Benjamin's nephew, though after the mysterious pattern of all teddy bears there is never any explanation about where he actually comes from. Benjamin occasionally mentions a sister as in "My sister will kill me." but you never actually see her, nor does Billy Bear mention her when he is over visiting his favorite Uncle. Denny Duck is another complete mystery, known only as Billy Bear's mischievous friend who likes lollypops and comic books.

Billy and Denny, for all their mystery, manage to get into a lot of trouble that Captain teddy has to save them from. For instance they are taken hostage at the zoo by the crazy Lion Tamer and are nearly fed to a pair of wild jungle cats before Captain teddy swoops in and saves them (after uttering the line "my sister will kill me" three pages previous). I assume Billy will eventually find out the truth about Captain teddy's secret identity because he is annoyingly nosey. He hasn’t been around for the last year or so and that's fine with me, but I look for him to reappear again.

What can I say about the Great Captian teddy? I admit, I thought about writing a paragraph about Super Cat who occasionally appears to help captain Teddy out, or about Dr. Mook the friendly scientist who assists Captain teddy now and then or even about Clockwork Clark who helps Captain teddy travel back in time chasing the diabolic Dr. Freeze, but in the end who is the most important good guy here? That's right, the great bear himself!

Captain Teddy has a range of super powers given to him by the crystals sewn into his suit such as super strength, super speed, super hearing and super sight. He has also, on occasion, had something akin to x-ray vision along with the uncanny ability to sense when danger is afoot. Not to mention, he can fly, of course. Bad guys beware!
